Pop Dell’Arte are an experimental art‑rock / post‑punk band from Lisbon, Portugal, formed in 1985 by vocalist João Peste. Known for their avant‑garde, dada‑influenced, and multimedia‑driven approach, they became a key act in the Portuguese alternative, underground, and Rock Rendez‑Vous scenes of the mid‑1980s.

Their music blends post‑punk, free‑form pop, noise, art‑rock, spoken‑word, and experimental electronics, often referencing visual arts, cinema, and literature. Pop Dell’Arte’s debut LP Free Pop (1987) is considered a landmark of Portuguese indie and experimental rock. Later releases — Ready‑Made (1993), Sex Symbol (1995), Contra‑Mundum (2010), and Transgressio Global (2020) — expanded their mix of avant‑pop, post‑modern collage, and genre‑hybrid performance.
