They do pay author rights to the rights societies for the featured works in the recordings, but they claim to have done all effort to obtain a license from the rightful owners of the recordings. They state this is not always possible to find the owners of the recordings, but multiple stories came up from artists who were easy enough to find, but never were contacted. Because of this, a lot of artists they publish, don't get the revenue they are entitled to for the recordings.
