Within the space of a few years, it gained a sound footing on the music market and is now one of the leading independent Swiss record companies both as a label and in the field of distribution. TBA AG is both a physical and digital distributor of music and film and a local A&R and marketing company. When it was established, the company's main focus was on electronic music—a reflection of the Zeitgeist of the early 1990s. TBA AG quickly became the market leader in this sector. The company has maintained this top market position to this day. In recent years, TBA AG has diversified its music portfolio. Its catalogue now includes all areas of popular music from pop, rock, metal, hip-hop, and R'n'B to the entire spectrum of electronic music. In 2006, TBA AG became the first Swiss independent label to take the step into the digital music business, setting up its own digital sales and marketing department. TBA AG has direct business relationships with all digital suppliers operating on the national market. For this reason, the company is a competent partner for artists and labels in the digital distribution business for music and film.

In 2007, TBA AG took over the long-standing Swiss distribution company . Ever since, the two companies have been working very closely and very successfully together. Their sales, logistics, accounting, and administration units were combined, while Phonag Records still operates as an independent marketing and repertoire company. Together the two companies currently have a market share of over 10 per cent, making them the no. 1 among independent distribution companies in Switzerland.

In 2008, TBA AG further extended its portfolio and entered the film business with the establishment of its Home Entertainment department. As an exclusive distributor of Frenetic Films and Planet Media home entertainment products, TBA AG became an important player in the Home Entertainment market.
