Croatian conductor, born 1978 in Imotski.
The Croatian conductor Ivan Repušic´ studied at the Music Academy in Zagreb, and pursued further studies with Jorma Panula and Gianluigi Gelmetti. He also worked as an assistant conductor at the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and with Donald Runnicles at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Ivan Repušic´ began his career proper at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, as its chief conductor and opera director from 2006 to 2008, and it was there that he also developed the broad Italian repertoire that still characterizes him.
Ivan Repušic´ also gained basic experience at the summer festivals in Split and Dubrovnik. A long friendship connects him with the Zadar Chamber Orchestra, and he is still its chief conductor. He also taught as a lecturer at the Academy of Arts of the University of Split. From 2010 to 2013 he served as the first Kapellmeister and, from 2016 until the end of the 2018/2019 season, General Music Director at the Staatsoper Hannover.
Ivan Repušic´ has also performed at the Bavarian and Hamburg State Opera, the Semperoper Dresden and the Komische Oper Berlin, as well as with the Giuseppe Verdi Orchestra of Milan, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Brussels Philharmonic, the Prague Symphony Orchestra and the Slovenian Philharmonic.
At the beginning of the 2017/2018 season Ivan Repušić assumed the post of chief conductor of the Münchner Rundfunkorchester.
