The Orchestra of the Belgrade Opera is the resident opera and ballet orchestra of the National Theatre in Belgrade, Serbia. Established alongside the permanent opera ensemble in 1919, the orchestra has a rich history of performing classical opera, operetta, and ballet repertoires, as well as symphonic works.Throughout its history, the orchestra has collaborated with renowned Yugoslav and international conductors and soloists, recording numerous classical and operatic releases for labels such as Jugoton, PGP RTB, and international classical labels.
Since its establishment, the orchestra has been conducted by the following conductors:
* The Founding & Interwar Period (1919-1941): Stanislav Binički, Stevan Hristić, Lovro Von Matacic, Ivan Brezovšek, Alfred Pordes, Predrag Milošević;
* The Post-WWII Golden Era (1945-1990): Oskar Danon, Krešimir Baranović, Dušan Miladinović, Borislav Pašćan, Bogdan Babić, Nikša Bareza;
* Modern Period & Recent Chief/Principal Conductors (1990-present): Jovan Šajnović, Dejan Savić (3), Bojan Suđić, Zorica Mitev Vojnović, Đorđe Pavlović, Ana Zorana Brajović and Aleksandar Kojić.
