Clyde Wright, (born May 1, 1928, outside of Charlotte, NC.,died, July 1, 2026) known for his many decades of singing second tenor with the world-famous Golden Gate Quartet. His first recordings were made playing guitar with the Golden Bell Quintet ("Low Down Chariot," RCA Victor) in the late 1940's. As vocalists, Clyde Wright and his cousin, , joined the Sultans in the early 1950's, recording for the Jubilee label. One of their songs, "Don't Be Angry," was rearranged and recorded again by Nappy Brown some years later. Brown had a huge hit with the song and although Clyde had written it, he never received writer credit.
Clyde also sang with the Selah Jubilee Singers on Jubilee. Clyde Wright then joined the Golden Gate Quartet who relocated to Europe in the mid 1950's. He sang with them until the late 1990's.
