The NDIO (Never Dance in Orange) project was started in 2000 by Frank van der Kooy to play his compositions.
It was proposed that NDIO would mean 'New Dutch Improvisation Orchestra’, but as they say themselves: "actually we weren't that ‘new’, we certainly weren’t all Dutch, the music was obviously based on written scores, and we weren’t an ‘orchestra’..."
