Fatty George's band formed around 1951 in Innsbruck. 1955 Fatty moved with his sextet back to Vienna where they recorded a few LPs and 7" till they broke up in 1958. The band was of variable size and home for various Austrian jazz legends like or . From 1958 onwards, the band was more a session band in Fatty George's jazz club "Fatty's Saloon". After the closing of the club in 1963, Fatty continued to play in a younger and different line-up, living mostly in Berlin at the time. In 1967 the band stopped since Fatty George was now radio presenter and musician for the Austrian broadcasting organization .
