American jazz trumpeter, cornetist and bandleader. Among others, he played with Joe Candullo, Sam Lanin, Jack Teagarden, Tony Bennett, Eddie Condon, Bix Beiderbecke, Gene Krupa, Art Hodes and also led his own bands. He was married to pianist/composer and was the younger brother of guitarist . McPartland was inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1992.
