Guitarist and bassist. He studied Social Anthropology and Ethnomusicology (PhD at Queen's University, Belfast), Ethnomusicology (MMus at SOAS), Art History and Music (BA, Dip. Open University) and Pharmacy (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). He did extensive research in Mali, West Africa. Before his appointment to the University of Macedonia, Greece, in 2022, he taught anthropology, ethnography and ethnomusicology at SOAS, QUB and Ionian University. He was an associate professor of the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia in the subject of Ethnomusicology. His articles have been published in prestigious international academic journals. He was an active musician (electric guitar, bass, West African donsonkoni harp) with participations in bands of popular music, underground experimental music and free improvisation.
