About
Australian singer-songwriter and indie / art-pop / electronic musician based in Melbourne, active since circa 2007.
Georgia first made her mark on the Melbourne music scene in 2007, with her EP Drama on the High Seas of Emotion. With each CD cover lovingly hand-made from a vintage Little Golden Book, she quickly sold out of three re-pressings. In 2010 Georgia assembled her 11-piece 'Mini-Indie-Orchestra' and recorded her debut self-titled album. Georgia Fields was awarded Album of the Week for ABC Radio National and Beat Magazine, and saw her perform on national television for SBS’ RocKwiz. Her second album Astral Debris (2016) was critically acclaimed, receiving airplay on Double J, ABC Radio National, and community radio across the country, including feature shortlistings on Melbourne stations PBS and Triple R. In winter 2017, Georgia was awarded a grant from the Australia Council for the Arts to embark on a national co-headline tour with Phia - their Sky and Sea Tour featured fully-collaborative live shows. Immediately afterwards, Georgia recorded Afloat, Adrift (2017), a retrospective EP captured live with The Andromeda String Quartet. Georgia's third studio album Hiraeth was released in November 2022.
As a live performer and festival favourite, Georgia Fields combines the astral with the ordinary. On stage, the sonic shapeshifter moves deftly from electric guitar, vintage keyboards and textural live vocal looping. Career highlights include performances at Melbourne Recital Centre; Queenscliff Music Festival; State Library Victoria; ACMI; Apollo Bay Music Festival; Melbourne Fashion Week; Festival of Voices Tasmania; Brisbane Powerhouse; National Gallery of Victoria; and Mullum Music Festival.
Georgia Fields has also established Mother Lode, a blog and online community for mothers working in the Australian music industry: https://www.findthemotherlode.com/
