Humming Bird is an idol group created for the OVA series "Idol Defense Force Hummingbird", consisting of the five main protagonists.
As part of the promotional campaign for the OVA, the five voice actresses portraying the main characters formed a real-life idol group under the same name. They performed live concerts, held fan club events, and hosted a regular radio program. The project is regarded as an early example of the multimedia promotion style later adopted by many Japanese anime productions, in which voice actors perform both as character voices and as recording and live-performing artists.
