2013, Naoki Nomoto, who was in charge of the analog modular synth, left the band.
The band restarted as the 'Drum Acoustics Research Project.' They create music by considering all of the following as 'composing' and 'performing': 'setting up microphones,' 'creating balance, tone, and positioning,' and 'amplifying the sound.'
In other words, if you're going to put microphones on the drums and amplify the sound with a PA, then why not try whatever sounds interesting and free from the constraints of what is generally considered 'good sound'?
