Satrox was founded in early 1985 in Lichtensteig (SG) and emerged from the two Toggenburg rock bands Anna's Joy and Bolloks. In 1985, the band recorded their first single, "Through the Night/Goin' Insane," under the name Satrox (Thomas Moser vocals and guitar, Pius Schuler guitar, Claudio Cueni keyboards, Peter Grob bass, Willi Thoma drums). In 1986, the first major lineup change occurred with the addition of Peter Mauerhofer (guitar), Sven Jäger (bass), and Andreas Demeuth (drums). A second major change took place in 1988 with the addition of Christoph Sonderer (drums), Werner Schweizer (vocals), Peter Grob (returning to bass), and Dany Schärz (keyboard). In this lineup, the band then achieved national success. Of the original founding members, Claudio Cueni made an international name for himself in the 1990s as a music producer, sound engineer, and mixing engineer. Pius Schuler joined the Swiss rock band Allison.
