The Hardy Boys were originally operational in the mid-80s, when they helped to define sound of Scotland circa C86, touring extensively and supporting bands such as River City People and an early incarnation of Babylon Zoo. They split up in 1991, giving birth to splinter group Flame Up. Save for one reunion performance in the band's home town of Greenock in the year 2000, The Hardy Boys remained inactive until 2010 - when, spurred on by the sudden cult status of their 1989 single Wonderful Lie, they regrouped with new members Karlyn King and Paul McArthur and released the Under The Piccadilly Clock EP through Glasgow's Bubblegum records. This was followed by the full-length album British Melancholy in 2011 (to date the band's only official full-length), after which the band split up once again.
